Religious Education

The Charge

We provide religious education training for children, youth and adults in our Meeting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning First Day programming.
  • Encouraging children to fully participate in the life of the meeting and develop an understanding of the beliefs and practices of Friends.
  • Setting curriculum for children’s religious education on an annual basis.
  • Setting goals for adult programming on an annual basis, based on input from HMM members, through the use of an annual questionnaire, discussions at Meeting for Business and other informal conversations.
  • Scheduling of at least some intergenerational events
  • Adult programming: set goals on an annual basis such as

– promoting deeper thinking about our beliefs and our lives

-Promoting sharing with each other—in worship sharing or general dis cussions

-Strengthen the Meeting as a community of people

  • Purchase and emboss Teen Bibles with the names of students completing sixth grade; copies of Faith and Practice for students completing 8th grade.
